Lezione 22: Il Passato Prossimo v. "Present Perfect"

Il passato prossimo ed il 'present perfect' in inglese sono simili, comunque sono usati in una maniera diversa.

In inglese, non si usano gli espressioni di tempo esatto con il 'present perfect'. Per esempio, in italiano, si dice:

Due settimane fa sono andato a Parigi.
Two weeks ago I went to Paris.

In inglese, abbiamo usato il 'simple past' quando abbiamo tradotto la frase. Perchè? In inglese, non è possibile usare il 'present perfect' con un periodo di tempo quando il periodo di tempo è esatto, come: 1 day, 2 weeks ago, at 2 o'clock, last year, etc. Due settimane fa è un periodo di tempo esatto.

In italiano, non è un problema perché il passato prossimo è più versatile, ma non è così in inglese.

Si può usare il 'present perfect' con le espressioni di tempo in cui il tempo non è esatto, ma più vago: before, one time, once, ever, several times, in the last week, in the last year, etc.

Quando il periodo di tempo è esatto, si deve usare il 'simple past'.

Questa distinzione è molto importante.

Vedi questi esempi:

She has been to the gym in the last week.
She went to the gym last week.

They have come to visit us several times.
They came to visit us on Tuesday and last year.

I have been to Rome before.
I went to Rome during Easter.
